Clear browser cache, cookies, and history
Click here for a video demonstration of these steps! Press CTRL + H, or click the ellipsis (3-dot) icon in the top-right and go to History, click History. Click "Clear browsing data." Make sure that all three boxes are checked and that "Time range" is set to "All time." Click "Clear data" when ready.

How to sign out of other Google accounts in Google Chrome
Go to Settings. Click the ellipsis (3-dot icon), then click Settings Click on your account. You will see the list of accounts currently signed into your Chrome browser. Click on each account except for your @isd112.org account, then click Remove this account.

Restart my Chomebook
A restart on a Chromebook tends to solve most issues. It is best to complete this process by first plugging your Chromebook into its power cord, even if it was charged recently. Once plugged in, press both the Power and Reload buttons (see above for example) at the same time. It should restart your device. Common issues that can be fixed by a restart 1. The device will not turn on. 2. Slowness 3. Unable to connect to the WiFi 4. Frozen screen 5. Hardware malfunction (example: only some keys are working)

Screen Zoom Reset
To make the page bigger: Press Ctrl and Plus . To make the page smaller: Press Ctrl and Minus . Reset zoom: Press Ctrl + 0. If the above does not work try: To quickly magnify the top section of your screen, press the Ctrl + Search + d keys. Press them again to un- magnify.

Connect to Home/Remote Wifi
Here are the steps to connect to a wireless network outside of ISD 112: 1. Click on the Time icon in the bottom-right corner. 2. Click “Not Connected,” then click on the SSID of the wireless network you want to connect to. 3. Enter the password for that wireless network, if applicable. 4. You should now have internet access. Troubleshooting WiFi If performing a restart on your Chromebook does not solve your wireless connection issues, check the following: 1. First, check to see if your Chromebook can detect wireless connections. This means that, when you click on the time in the bottom-right, then click the drop-down under the wireless icon, you should see other SSID’s available to connect. a. If nothing is present here, first ensure that the switch to allow wireless connections is turned on. b. If on and still showing nothing, try restarting your Chromebook again at least 3 times. c. If SSID’s are still not present, there’s a malfunction with a wireless card that will require on-site intervention. If you can connect to a wireless network, but still have internet issues…. 2. Remove the network from your Chromebook, then reconnect to it and verify that you have the correct a. Go to Settings (click Time, then click on the gear icon in the tray). b. Click Network, then click WiFi. c. Click Known Networks d. Find the network you want to remove, then click the ellipsis icon, then click Forget. e. Reconnect to the wireless network. Make sure that you have the correct wireless password. 3. If removing/reconnecting to a wireless network doesn’t fix the issue, it’s possible that there could be problems with the home internet itself, even if other devices can connect to it. a. Go to where your modem is located. b. Unplug the power from it and wait 10-15 seconds. c. Plug it back in and wait a few minutes for the modem to power it back up. d. Try connecting to WiFi now.

Update my Chromebook
Click here for a video demonstration! Look for Updates (Chromebook or Chrome Browser) [link to resource] On your computer, open Chrome. At the top right, click More . Click Help About Chrome OS or About Google Chrome. If needed click Check for Updates (sometimes it will automatically begin checking).* NOTE: If you get an error go to https://www.google.com/chrome/ and try installing Chrome. If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically. Reboot the Device whether it found an update or not. * There may be multiple updates that need to be done. After restarting your chromebook, check for updates again to make sure all of them have been installed. You will need to SHUTDOWN and reboot before resuming regular chromebook activity.

Printing from Chromebook at home
Hardwired Printer (Depending upon your printer this may not work) Plug the cable into your printer and the other end into your Chromebook (USB port). Open your Chromebook’s settings* and type “print” into the search box Select “Printers,” and wait for connected printer to pop up Click on your printer’s name, and click the blue “Save” button to finish You may need to click on See More to find the printer you just added Wireless printer *Click the clock in the lower-right corner of your screen. Then click the gear-shaped icon to open settings Type “print” into the search box at the top of the settings panel Select Printers, then wait for your printer to pop up (needs to be connected to the same wifi) Click on your printer’s name in the list that appears and click the blue Save You may need to click on See More to find the printer you just added. Click here for Information from Google’s help site Other options You can also logon to the student’s @isd112.org account on another device, i.e. your home computer, and print directly from the student’s account. This works best if using Chrome browser but Firefox will also work, but from Chrome to logon: Open a new tab in Chrome. Click on the square grid icon in the upper right to reveal your choices. Choose Drive. If someone is logged in already, click on their icon to ‘Add another account’. Enter your student’s email address (ending in @isd112.org). Then enter their password. They will then be in their Drive and you will be able to print from that device since it is already connected to the printer.

Hardware vs User Account Issues
Hardware Issue vs User Account Issue Some issues that occur on your device may be related to your Google user account vs the Chromebook itself. If you’ve already restarted your Chromebook, as well as verified that internet is working just fine at your location, try the following: Find another device, preferably another Windows or Mac computer, and log into Google Chrome using your @isd112.org account. Attempt the same task you tried on your district machine. If the same symptoms occur, this is a user account issue. If the same issues do not occur, this is a hardware issue. Troubleshooting steps to fix a Google account issue Try the following steps to fix common Google account issues. Confirm that your computer is connected to the internet. Turn off/remove all non-district enabled Chrome extensions (type chrome://extensions/ into the address bar to see the installed extensions) Clear your history, cookies, and cache in Chrome Make sure to change the drop-down menu to “All Time.” Check Google Chrome for updates (chrome://settings/help in the address bar). If you have multiple accounts signed into Google, such as a personal G-mail, sign out of all accounts other than your district account.

Speech to Text
Speech to Text is an option to allow a chromebook to convert speech to text. To turn on "enable dictation" function on a Chromebook, click on the clock area of the Chromebook in the lower right corner, then click the cog (settings) icon. On the far left side of the screen you'll see the "Advanced" settings, when you open "Advanced", go to where it says "Accessibility Features" and then slide the bar to "always show". Next you'll want to click on "Manage access" under the section labeled "Keyboard & text input, and then finally slide to "enable dictation".
