Disinfect / Clean Electronic Devices
How to Safely Disinfect Electronic Devices Step 1: Completely power down the device. Step 2: Unplug anything connected to the device. Step 3: Do not spray anything directly on the device. Step 4: To clean non-touch chromebook, laptop, or computer screens, apply a solution of half water to half isopropyl alcohol (70%) to a microfiber cloth. Do not use Clorox wipes on non-touch screens. Non-touch screens are not shiny, they have a matte finish and you cannot manipulate the screen by touching them. Step 5: To clean interactive screens (i.e. iPads, touchscreen chromebooks, and touchscreen laptops) apply isopropyl alcohol (70%) to a microfiber cloth or use Clorox disinfecting wipes to wipe all surfaces. Apply more isopropyl alcohol (70%) as needed to the cloth only. Touchscreen devices have a shiny screen, like glass. These screens can be treated just like keyboards and cases; meaning you can apply full-strength isopropyl alcohol (70%) to the cloth and clean the screens as well as the rest of the device. If you elect Clorox wipes, please be sure to wring out any extra liquid prior to wiping the device. On touchscreen devices it is helpful to use another clean microfiber cloth to wipe the screen dry. Step 6: To clean cases, keyboards, and touchpads using the isopropyl alcohol (70%) solution on a cloth to wipe down all of these surfaces. Clorox wipes are safe too, as long as they are not too wet. Step 7: After all the areas are cleaned leave the device open and do not power on until it is completely dry. Do not use any other chemicals or solutions on laptops or chromebooks.

Internet Service Options
There are several option for families to obtain free internet services via the federal Affordable Connective Program ( ACP ) If they live in the Chaska/Carver area then Comcast is a great option they use Comcast Internet Essentials program to sign up for very lost cost internet and via our 112 District Foundation even that cost can be covered. Then they also signup for the Affordable Connectivity Program ( ACP ) and get 100% free internet service and even have an option for low cost computer. Also, assuming they are already signed up for something like Lifeline which gives someone free cell phone services they can just extend that program and get free internet services. For example here is info about Verizon’s free service and here is info about same program from T-Mobile. If they live in Chanhassen/Victoria area then Mediacom also has options for their Affordable Connectivity Program ( ACP ) The Carver County Library system also has options for free internet service too, but again these are only short-term options and don’t get families permanent internet services which can their change life like these other programs.

Youtube Branded Accounts..
Youtube as of July 1st 2020 dropped support for “Branded” Youtube channels owned by a G Suite for Education account. This means any channel which remains and branded account will have no access to the channel. We have applied to extension for staff accounts to June 30, 2020 but student accounts are not eligible for an extension. If you are seeing that you do not have access to run youtube this could be your issue!!!! All branded account owns have already received and email warning them of this issue so please take action if you have “branded” account. STUDENTS Students will need to switch their Google account over the “empty” youtube account which should already exist. It works best to logon to google chrome using incognito mode ( can’t do this on a chromebook ). Then go to https://www.youtube.com/signin?action_handle_signin=true&skip_identity_prompt=False&feature=edu_disabled&next=/channel_switcher and select the empty account as the primary youtube account they should up and running again… STAFF To verify if you have a Branded account please go to https://myaccount.google.com/brandaccounts after you have logged into your District Google account. For staff If you find you have branded account we suggest you remove the branding by using the following instructions. https://docs.google.com/document/d/15VpcFfQ7n7P7bMvbSfsZ0W7WY8GJPfA5LS92KP5_7Ec/edit?usp=sharing

HEIC Images (iOS)
About HEIC files HEIC files are pictures taken by Apple mobile devices, like iPhones and iPads. More specifically, they are pictures taken with the Live Picture option enabled. The most simple fix is to turn off the "Live Picture" option. With the camera app open, click the button in the top-right corner so that a slash mark appears over the icon. That will shut off Live Picture. You also have the option to convert HEIC files to JPG using the website https://heictojpg.com/ Simply upload the file on the website. When prompted, click "Download JPG."
